Set in the present day, against the backdrop of Sydney’s Martin Place – a bustling cityscape teeming with life and motion – a man and woman become conduits for a narrative that transcends the bounds of time and modernity. The dialogue was written as a daily practice between artist Lottie Consalvo and actor Johnny Carr and was restricted to words that omit references to the human-made or human contacted, and with a focus on words referencing nature. The absence of a set time limit yet framed within the bounds of two full moons in August, reflects the fluidity of our connection with both nature and ourselves—an ongoing resonance that persists beyond the confines of structured temporality. Intentionally obscured, fragmented images draw viewers into a realm where connections to the natural world are delicately etched, illuminating the estranged relationship between urban living and the rhythm of the natural world. This disconnection, weaved through the narrative, resonates as a poignant commentary on the contemporary human experience. The dialogue is written in script form and with no image references the silent film genre, or a narrative where some parts are left to the audiences to imagine the artists intention, encouraging the power of the viewers imagination. The absence of a discernible beginning or end engenders a dreamlike quality, akin to the surreal scapes of the subconscious mind. This deliberate design invites viewers to enter the work at any juncture, fostering an experience that parallels the non-linear and ephemeral nature of dreams.
